Carol M. Delano

08/07/24

Carol M. Delano, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on December 20, 1940, to Albert and Leora Beam in Skaneateles, New York, Carol lived a life full of compassion, dedication, and creativity.

Carol graduated from Skaneateles High School, and a little over a year later, married her high school sweetheart, John E Delano of Mottville, NY. John joined the Air Force soon after high school and the two were married on August 6, 1961. After six years of military life, she and John returned to Skaneateles with three daughters. A few years later, Carol went on to earn her associate degree from Onondaga Community College. She found her calling in the medical field, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later earning her Registered Nurse (RN) license. Her nursing career took her to several hospitals in the Syracuse area, where she touched countless lives with her care and expertise.

In 1977, Carol, with her family, relocated to Southern California, where she continued her nursing journey. Her dedication and leadership skills led to her promotion as a floor supervisor, a role in which she thrived. In the early 1990s, Carol and her family returned to New York, where she continued her nursing career until her retirement.

After retiring from nursing, Carol channeled her creative talents into a new venture with a passion. She opened a floral and craft shop called Heaven Sent Creations, where she delighted in creating and selling handmade bouquets and crafts. More importantly, she used this opportunity to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, touching lives with both her art and her faith.

A devoted prayer warrior and a faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church in Auburn, NY, Carol's life was a testament to her unwavering faith. She was always ready to offer a prayer, a word of encouragement, or a gentle witness of how God sent Jesus to this earth to save anyone who would turn from their way and accept Jesus as their personal Savior.

Carol was also known for her love of Diet Pepsi and butter, simple pleasures that brought her joy throughout her life.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Leora Beam, her siblings Robert Beam and Bette Raymond, and her beloved daughters Linda Delano and Becky Delano. She is survived by her devoted husband, John E. Delano, her siblings Sally Clauss and Charles Beam, and her loving children Debra Napuunoa, Sandra Leslie, Carol Matthews, John D. Delano, and Kristy Teesdale. Carol was also a grateful grandmother to 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Carol's legacy of kindness, strength, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout her long and fulfilling life.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, August 15th at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Howlett Hill Road at 1PM.

Visiting hours with the family will be held at Freedom Baptist Church, 3324 E Genesee St, Auburn, from 3PM until 5PM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 5PM with a meal to follow.
