6/6/26

Charles Lewis Foltz, 86, of Elbridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the evening of June 6, 2026.

Born on September 11, 1939, in Locke, New York, Charlie was the son of Jesse Earl Foltz and Ida Mae Chapman Foltz. He was the eighth of nine children and graduated from Moravia High school in 1957.

He grew up in the Town of Sennett near Auburn, New York, where he developed a lifelong passion for sports. Basketball and Baseball were among his greatest loves, and he continued playing softball well into adulthood. His competitive spirit and love of the game never faded.

In 1960, Charlie married the love of his life, Mary K DeMarco of Elbridge, New York. Together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Charlie and Mary raised their five children in Elbridge before returning to the Town of Sennett, where he resided for more than 30 years. He worked as a welder for over 40 years before retiring at the age of 62. Known for his strong work ethic and dependability, he took great pride in providing for his family.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, and country music. Later in life he grew fond of golf and enjoyed playing with his lifelong best friend, Ed Quigley. Above all else, his greatest joy was supporting his family. His passion and love of all sports was unparalleled as he rarely missed an event and could always be found in the stands cheering on his children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His presence at their events was a constant source of support, encouragement and love.

A devoted sports fan, Charlie rarely missed a New York Yankees game. He was a Cleveland Browns fan and passionately cheered for all Syracuse University Athletics. Sports connected him not only to his own passions but also to the generations of family members he loved so deeply.

Family was the center of Charlie’s world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary K. Foltz; his children, Dawn Maldonado (Luis Maldonado), Brenda Foltz (Lawrence Cardinale), Joseph Foltz (Coreen Foltz), and David Foltz (Peggy VandeWetering); 16 grandchildren, and 8 great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by all of his siblings and his beloved son, Wes Foltz, who passed in 1982.

Charlie will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering dedication to his family, his love of all sports, and the countless memories he created with those around him. His legacy lives on in the family and friends he cherished and the values he instilled in them through a life well lived.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Lodge in Skaneateles (Allyn Lodge) on Friday, July 24th between 5 pm – 8 pm. In lieu of Flowers, donations to honor Charles can be made to Jordan-Elbridge Community Sports Boosters. PO Box 23, Elbridge, NY 13060. Memo: Charles Foltz Scholarship Fund
