Duane A. Sherman, known affectionately as Duane to his friends and family, passed away after a long battle with illnesses on October 22, 2024, at the age of 80.
Born on August 31, 1944, in Ogdensburg, NY, Duane's journey through life was marked by his loving nature, thoughtful gestures, and creative spirit. Duane's early years in Ogdensburg laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. In 1995, he achieved a significant personal milestone by completing his GED, a testament to his belief in lifelong learning and self improvement. Duane's professional life was largely spent at Lipe Rollway in Syracuse. His work ethic and versatility led him to pursue various other jobs, including carpentry and painting, where he applied his hands-on skills and creative flair.
Duane was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His garage was his sanctuary, a place where he could be found working on cars and mowers, indulging in his passion for fixing and building.
Duane's love for tinkering was more than a hobby; it was a way of sharing his talents and bringing joy to those around him. Duane's life was a tapestry woven with the love of his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna, who was a source of unwavering support and companionship. He was also predeceased by his parents, Morton and Eva Sherman, and his brother, Jerry.
Duane's legacy lives on through his son, Todd, and daughter, Jennifer, who will forever cherish the lessons and love their father imparted. His brother, Gary (Donna), shared a special bond with Duane, one that was built on mutual respect and brotherly love.
The joy of being a grandfather was one of Duane's greatest pleasures. His grandchildren, Amanda, Brian, Jessica, Devin, and Matthew, were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in their achievements and adventures. The birth of his great-granddaughter, Kaylynn, brought an additional burst of happiness into his later years. Duane's extended family, including his sister-in-law Kim, brothers-in-law Terry (Terri) and Ron (Karen), and his many nieces and nephews, will remember him as a pillar of strength and kindness in their family.
As we bid farewell to Duane A. Sherman, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, hard work, and the joy of creation. His spirit will continue to guide and influence us. Duane's journey on this earth has come to a close, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come.
He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
