Fred Squires Sr. of Skaneateles, New York, passed away on January 31, 2025 at The Commons of St. Anthony in Auburn at the age of 87. He was born November 13,1937 to Ernest and Evelyn Squires of Mottville.
Fred married Marguerite (Ulincy) Squires August 3, 1956 and had 4 children, Bonnie (George) Fay of Baldwinsville, Brenda (Wayne) Smith of Conquest, Karen (Doug) Mead of Elbridge and Fred Jr (Laurie) Squires of Skaneateles.
There are 14 Grand Children and a total of 21 Great Grandchildren within the family. Fred was raised with 11 Brothers and Sisters- Surviving is Ernest II (Mary) Squires, Myron (Marge) Squires, Evelyn Hodson, Dorothy Squires, and Carl (Charlene) Squires.
He predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Evelyn, his brothers- Jack, Edward, Frank, George and his sisters- Barbara and Mary.
Fred retired from Allied Chemical in 1983 after 35 years of employment. He went on to build several classic cars and work for RJ Hood Welding. Fred will always be remembered for his passion of Classic Cars, and his and moms favorite 68 Camaro that was well known throughout Central New York. He and Maggie would always be at car shows and cruise nights throughout the area.
Fred also was a well-known Drag racer in New York State running several cars and classes at ESTA Safety Park and South Butler Drag way for over 30 years. He loved working in his garage, building cars, and going to dinner with mom every night to the Hilltop Restaurant. During the summer you would see them sitting in the garage watching everyone drive by the house.
Services will be held at a later date in the spring along with a Celebration of Life. An announcement will be made with dates and times.
