George R. Wolff

George R. Wolff passed away peacefully and was called to his eternal home on August 31, 2026, at the age of 88 years-old after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Stillwater, NY, George was the son of the late Albert and Bertha Wolff. From an early age, George was shaped by qualities that would define his life: a strong work ethic, integrity, determination and an unwavering belief that through education success could be obtained. George graduated from Stillwater Central Schools in 1955. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his nation from 1957-1959. After completing his military service, George continued his education at SUNY Albany, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in business education and a Master’s degree with studies in public policy and political science.

George began his professional career as a teacher in the Marcellus Central School District. Driven by his ambition, he soon set his sights on a new challenge and entered Syracuse University College of Law graduating at the top of his class in 1968. Following law school, he joined the respected Syracuse law firm of MacKenzie, Smith, Lewis, Mitchell & Hughes. Over the course of his distinguished legal career, George became a highly respected lawyer throughout New York State, concentrating his practice in the area of workers’ compensation law.

In 1997, George became a founding partner of Wolff, Goodrich and Goldman Law Firm. George was known as an exceptional mentor and leader. He demanded high standards from those around him because he first demanded them of himself. George’s professional success was not handed to him; it was built from long hours, sharp intellect, discipline and uncompromising commitment to doing things the right way.

Outside of his professional career, one of George’s greatest joys was the gentleman’s farm he and Anne built in 1975. It was there that George was truly in his element. He loved having his hands in the earth and found great joy tending to his gardens, planting flowers and fruit trees and carefully preserving the bounty of his harvest through canning. He took great pride in caring for his variety of animals, both large and small. Above all, he loved looking out over the pastures filled with his beloved horses and ponies. George was truly a farmer at heart.

George also enjoyed traveling with his family and especially cherished his journeys throughout Europe. He took great pleasure in spending time in Germany, celebrating Oktoberfest and experiencing the beauty, traditions and spirit of the Christmas markets.

Above all else, George was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Anne Wolff of Skaneateles; his brother Albert Wolff of Stillwater, NY, his three daughters, Katie (Paul Iaconis) Wolff of Londonderry, NH; Liz (Dan) Evans of Skaneateles; and Sarah (Josh) Alimi of Burlington, MA and six grandchildren, Elizabeth and Allison Iaconis; Emily and Madison Evans; and Luke and Trevor Alimi. George took great pride in each of his grandchildren and encouraged them to work hard in all educational pursuits, to pursue their dreams and to strive to become the best versions of themselves.

George was predeceased his siblings, Bernard, Katheryn and Jean.

The family would like to thank Upstate Medical Center, Iroquois Nursing Home and the many caregivers who provided compassionate care to George over the past 12 years.
