Harold Stonecipher passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2026, at 89 years old. Born May 22, 1937 in Syracuse.
Harold was one of ten children. After attending local high school, he enlisted in the National Guard. He went on to hold jobs at the RE Dietz company as well as the Onondaga County Water Department. He met his future wife Rosemary (Kotlarz, d. 2022, 83 yo) from Skaneateles in 1957 while she worked at the Sylvania Company in Camillus. The two lived together on Tipperary Hill in Syracuse before moving to Skaneateles and starting their family.
An avid sportsman and fan, Harold spent many years socializing with his friends over playing softball and pitching horseshoes at Austin Park in Skaneateles. He was also an active bowler at Cedar House Lanes and Marcellus Lanes, even into his early 80’s. His greatest pleasure was working at the Carrier Dome during Syracuse University sporting events; a position he held proudly for 20 years after retiring from his previous jobs.
Harold is survived by his two sons, Allan, 58, who currently resides in Skaneateles, and Pete, 53, from Mount Kisco, NY. Harold also has a daughter-in-law Lauren (w/ Pete), 51, and two grandchildren, Zoe, 19, and Chase, 17.
Harold spent his final days peacefully and being taken care of compassionately by the staff at The Matthew House in Auburn NY.
