Herb Alexander, 82, of Skaneateles, NY, passed away unexpectedly & peacefully with his wife of 44 years by his side on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Herb was born in Charleston, SC on December 27, 1943 to the late Herbert Sr. and Juanita Boykin Alexander. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military Academy and The Citadel. Prior to his retirement in 2002 Herb worked as an analyst on various types of computerized services in the Grocery Food Industry, including S. M. Flickinger, Peter J. Schmitt Co., Quality Markets and Penn Traffic Co. He was a true southern gentleman who enjoyed golf, riding his bicycle, long walks, travel and was the ultimate storyteller.
Herb was pre-deceased by sister-in-law Catherine F. Murray and his niece Tiffany Caulder. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Murray Alexander, brothers Leon (Evelyn), Richard (Patty) & sister Dale Navarrete (Raul), sister-in-law Mary Jane Smith (Stanley) and many nieces & nephews.
To celebrate Herb’s life, relatives & friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, March 1st from 1 pm to 3 pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Service will be held at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home on Monday, March 2nd at 11 am with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles.

Michelle-So sorry to read of Herb’s passing. I worked with him at Penn Traffic and there were always great stories to be told. He was one-of-a-kind!
