James "Jim" Ryder

James "Jim" Ryder, 79, of Skaneateles, passed away Thursday. Born in Auburn, he was a self employed contractor for over 50 years.

Jim was an Air Force Veteran and enjoyed playing pitch, bowling, and listening to music. His family was most important to him, especially attending his grandchildren's music and sporting events.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Catherine Ryder; sister and brother in law, Dorothy (Frank) Fletcher and brother and sister in law, Lawrence "Larry" (Gael) Ryder.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sheila; sons, Aaron (Kristin) of Camillus and Jason (Vanessa) of Baldwinsville; brother, Rod Ryder of Mattydale; four grandchildren, Ethan, Madelyn, Elyse, and Noah; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, 49 Jordan St., Skaneateles. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 37 W. Genesee St., Skaneateles.

Burial will be private in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles.

Aunt Sheila, Aaron, Jason and families. Sending you all my deepest condolences for Uncle Jim. Have so many fond memories of him from younger years. You are all in my heart and prayers. May he rest in peace forever and always..

So sorry to hear about Jim. I live in Maryland now on my trips to NY I always enjoyed a coffee with Jim at Byrne Dairy. We had some good laughs. What a good person he will be missed by all of us
