Kathleen Jane (Benigni) Bullion, 68, surrounded by family, passed into The Lord's House on June 7th after battling a very long illness.
Born in Saint Mary’s, Pennsylvania October 11th, 1957, moved to Elbridge NY, then to Ossining, NY, 1965, and then returned to Elbridge, 1967. Kathy lost her father and grandfathers within a year in eighth grade, providing the impetus for her becoming a candy striper at Auburn Hospital during high school. Following graduation from Jordan Elbridge High School in 1975 she attended Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing. She continued caring for others her entire life.
Kathy was a ray of sunshine to everyone's path she crossed, especially Patrick Bullion, the love of her life. She especially enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; spending quality time with “my boys" (her brothers), her dogs (especially her Brittany spaniel (Mackie), and her many friends and family members.
Kathy enjoyed many hobbies She loved gardening, picking berries, going on walks, golfing, skiing, cooking, needlework (more recently with her friends at Holy Cross Church), and exercising with friends at the local Jewish Community Center.
Kathy is preceded by her parents, Joseph Benigni and Helena Jane (Reinsel) Benigni and father-in-law Frederick Bullion.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years Patrick Bullion, brothers Terrence Benigni, Daniel Benigni, mother-in- law Elizabeth (Fred) Bullion, sister in laws Mary (Tim) Virgil, Barbara (John) Baxter, nieces Sarah, Katie (Sean Lawlor and daughter Avery), Alanna and nephews Kevin and Evan.
The family wishes to thank the nurses for the great care recently given to Kathy especially at Saint Joseph’s Hospital where she worked as a nurse for over 40 years.
Calling hours will be held at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt on Tuesday, June 16th from 9 to 11 am with a memorial service to follow at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in memory of Kathy to the St. Joseph's College of Nursing to benefit current students who demonstrate financial need and nursing aptitude. Donations can be mailed to: St. Joseph's Foundation, 973 James Street, Suite 250, Syracuse, NY 13203

Pat…so very sorry for your loss. Kathy was one in a million as a friend and a nurse. She was an exceptional nurse and one of the smartest nurses I ever worked with. She was so kind and always willing to help others. She was always smiling and lit up the room wherever she went. She will be so missed. God Bless. 🙏
Worked with Kathy several years. A kind, extremely knowledgeable nurse who was memorable in many ways. May she and her family be at peace knowing she gave so much.

Kathy thought of her nursing as a vocation not a job. She was one of the few that loved what she did. I had the pleasure of not only working with her, but also as a friend.
