Kathryn Anne Lovier, 79, of Skaneateles, New York passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026 after a brief and unexpected turn in her health. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final hours and her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.

Born on June 4, 1947 in Rome, New York, Kathy was the proud daughter of Stanley H. and Anne Trela Drisgula. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church and a 1965 graduate of Rome Free Academy where she enjoyed cheering for her school’s football and basketball teams, had many friends and excelled in her studies. After graduation, she chose the noble profession of nursing, earning her degree from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing in 1968. Later, after her children were older, Kathy continued her education at LeMoyne College and SUNY Oswego, earning her BSN and Master’s in Education. Kathy not only worked through the years as a nurse in Syracuse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, but became a teacher for BOCES in Onondaga County, educating countless future LPNs and making a difference in their lives as a role model, mentor and friend.

Kathy enjoyed many hobbies, including watching sports, shopping, antiquing, refinishing furniture and playing tennis. She was a fan of the NY Yankees and cheered on her children and grandchildren’s sports teams, from soccer to baseball, but especially hockey. Coaching her daughter Krissi’s high school tennis team with her friend Penny was one of the highlights of her life, she often said. And, as Grandma, Kathy was thrilled to be awarded the Fan of the Year Award from Skaneateles Youth Hockey Association, never missing a Laker game if her grandkids were on the ice.

Kathy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was very proud her children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments and was happy to share at family gatherings and celebrations. Kathy was always available to talk on the phone, checked on her kids daily and had a good ear for listening. She will be sadly missed by all her family, many friends and grand dogs, especially Albert. While we were not ready to say goodbye to her, we take comfort in knowing she is in a better place.

Kathy is survived by her four children and their spouses: John A. Lovier, Jr. (Ginny) of Skaneateles, Laura Kuhns (Peter) of Skaneateles, Kristine Terrazzino (Sam) of North Tonawanda, and Carolyn Boniface (John) of Cicero. Her grandchildren: Meg, Michael, Jack and James Lovier; Joshua (Kaylee), Owen (Dylann) and Abby Kuhns; Sammylee, Victoria and Jasper Terrazzino. Her great grandchildren: Ryan, Logan and Crew Kuhns; Her brother Paul Drisgula of Scotia and sister Mary Rose Hake of Atlanta, Georgia; Several nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Anne; her son, Michael; and her sister-in-law Mary Drisgula.

Kathy’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Skaneateles and a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, with Father Brian Lang officiating.

A reception in the parish hall for friends and family will directly follow the services. There are no calling hours. Donations in Kathy’s memory can be made to Skaneateles Youth Hockey Association or a charity of your choice.
