Linda Thomas, 82, of Jordan, NY passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2025. But in all honesty, she was probably just sick of everyone’s crap. She left behind a heck of a lot of fabric, pens, measuring tapes, and reading glasses…her children are convinced she was a hoarder. Any who, we ask that you wait the appropriate amount of time to get in touch. Tomorrow would be fine.
She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family whom she loved unconditionally. Linda was known for having a tough exterior, yet, she had the biggest heart and loved fearlessly. She was never one to hold back her opinion, she told it like it was and didn’t care what anyone thought. Linda had this knack for telling the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. She never sugar coated anything, you always knew where you stood with her. Good or bad, it was probably your fault.
Now back to the important stuff. Linda was a seasoned quilter; you could always find her coming up with a new idea for a project. She donated many quilts to local Charities, benefits and Nursing Homes. Linda was an avid reader, who loved to journal about her experiences and daily life. Next to all this, she loved food, she loved life, and most of all she loved her family.
Linda is predeceased by her husband, John Thomas, whom she loved dearly. Together they had seven children. Beth Smithler of Syracuse, NY, Vicki Thomas of Syracuse, Lance Thomas of Weedsport, Scott (Julie) Thomas of Skaneateles, Melissa Thomas (Emmanuel) of Syracuse, and Trent Thomas of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the Jordan-Elbridge community, this was home for Linda for fifty years. They would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Upstate for their kindness.
Per Linda’s wish, there will not be a funeral service. However, there will be a burial service on Monday, May 5th at 11 am at Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan, NY. The family wishes to celebrate both John and Linda’s lives.
