Philip Williams passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Born in Boston, Phil’s early years were shaped by his education at Lynn English High School, Suffield Academy, and Hobart College. He went on to build a distinguished career in the apparel industry, spending the majority of his professional life as an executive with Health-Tex.
Phil and his beloved wife Linda raised their two sons, Jay and Gregg, first on Leitch Avenue and later in a lovingly converted barn in the village of Skaneateles—a place he cherished and proudly called home. After relocating from Seattle, Phil embraced the Skaneateles community, becoming a longtime member of the Skaneateles Country Club, where he found joy in both golf and sailing.
Phil was predeceased by Linda, his devoted partner in life. He is survived by his sons Jay (Sarah) and Gregg (Claire); grandchildren Barbara, Philip, Marcella, Jake, and Lily; and great-grandchildren Salvatore and Angelo. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he adored.
A private graveside service will be held, followed by a family reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Phil’s memory.

Jay,
We just caught this in the Skaneateles Press. Sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a great guy, and always had a smile on his face. Many great memories of seeing him on the treadmill at the Y or eating dinner at SCC. May God bless him and all of you.
I’m so sorry to hear about Phil’s passing. I had the privilege of caring for him for over two years, and he will always hold a special place in my heart. He was such a kind, sweet, and selfless man. I’ll never forget how much he loved listening to music when we were together, or how he’d get a little anxious on our drives because of his sight not being well but still trusted me to be by his side. Even as he battled dementia, there was always a gentleness about him that touched me deeply.
Phil wasn’t just someone I cared for — he became family. He spent time at my home and got along so well with my…
The reception is from noon to 2 at the Sherwood. All are welcome. Jay
