BALDWINSVILLE -- It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Ronald G. Robinson, 77, on April 21, 2025.

Ron, the son of the late Gerald and Jennie Robinson, was born Dec. 29, 1947 in Gloversville, and grew up in Johnstown. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1966. A proud veteran, Ron entered the U.S. Army in 1967, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1970. In 1971, Ron began employment as an installer-repairman for GTE. He worked for the telephone company until his retirement in 2012.

Ron was an active member of the Johnstown community. He volunteered for the Friends of Johnson Hall, including founding the Johnson Jog 5K race which raised money for the Johnson Hall State Historic Site. He also volunteered as a Johnstown Little League coach, and in the Fulmont Roadrunners Club, for which he engaged in many activities.

Ron was a loving family member and friend to many. He was an avid train lover and model train enthusiast. Ron's passions included building new structures (especially sheds), golf, traveling the world, and volunteering to help anyone at any time with anything. His talents included playing guitar which he shared with the St. Anthony's community along with his vocals in the Joy Group for years, and anything to do with sports, notably running half marathons and noontime YMCA basketball.

Ron is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Robinson, as well as his children, Roni Lynn Robinson of Los Angeles, Daniel Robinson (Michelle) of Liverpool, and Ellen Robinson (Admir) of Switzerland. Ron is also survived by his granddaughters, Grace and Laura Robinson. Also surviving are his siblings Gail Robinson, Elaine Wormuth, and Alan Robinson.

Calling hours will be from 11 to 1 pm on Saturday, April 26, at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown, NY, with a memorial service immediately following at 1pm. Burial will be private at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Johnstown Public Library, 38 S. Market St., Johnstown, NY 12095. Arrangements by Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles, NY. To send condolences, visit:

To Pat and family,

I am very saddened about Ron. We had a lot of fun in the Fulmont Roadru news Club.

I especially remember Pat and Ron letting me stay at their house during a snow storm or two. Ron helped me dig out my car.

Cherish your memories. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers

Ron and Pat are two of the finest people I know. Generous, kind, considerate, talented and willing to help their friends and family with anything and everything. Both Pat and Ron were a valuable part of Johnson Hall. They established the Johnson Jog, a 5K fundraiser for the Friends of Johnson Hall, overseeing all parts of it every year, making it one of the most popular events in the community. We missed them when they left the Johnstown community but never forgot them. No one could have asked for better neighbors and friends. May love and sweet memories surround his family always and may his spirit guide one and all. Rest in peace!
