Sidney “Sid” Ray Hoover passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026 after a courageous battle with acute leukemia.

Sid is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Lorraine A. Hoover (Werbeck). He is also survived by his children, Stephanie A. Reilly (Hoover) and Michael P. Hoover (Lisa), and his four grandchildren: Alexis Reilly, Morgan (Brielle), Nathan Hoover, and Lauren Hoover.

Sid retired from American Airlines after 36 years of dedicated service. He was also a lifelong firefighter with the Spafford Fire Department, proudly serving his community for many years.

In accordance with his wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Uncle Sids passing!

He was a beloved member of our family,

very loved and always there. I remeber a time at Grammas house when he was holding my baby son Patrick in the kitchen, he didn't want to put him down, it's such a sweet memory, like it was yesterday. My heartfelt condolences to my Aunt Lorraine, cousins Stephanie and Michael and families.

I am so sorry to hear about Sid. He was one of my favorite co-workers and I like to say a friend as well. My sincere condolences to everyone in the family. I will miss his being. Love to all!
