It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wade Samuel Hughes on September 6 th 2024.
He is survived by his life partner Maria Ford of Deltona Fl. His sons Richard Huftalen of Cazenovia NY and Jeremy Huftalen of Morrisville, NY. Sister, Genelle Peebles and husband Andrew. His beloved nephew Christopher W. DiGenova and wife Halie and their son Luciano Wade. Also, his best friend Forrest Planck of Jacksonville, Fl.
Services will be private and at the convenience of his family.

I met Wade at Rafferty’s in Syracuse many moons ago. Many of us were there for lunch, and enjoyed being there with a mutual friend Anita. I witnessed him remedy a threatening situation, before most of us knew what was really happening. A true gentleman. Rest in Peace Wade. Michele
Wade was a fantastic guy and one good cop. RIP

Growing up in Erieville it was always Wade, Neil (Jillson), Duane (Moore), Carl (Dillworth) and me (Skip Onyan). We were always together. We did everything from Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts….and every summer…little league, camping in the woods and of course “the rope”. I really loved those times and Wade was a huge part of our lives. He will be missed.
